Our Niece Wins Her Second Olympic Gold Medal!
When the Canadian Women's Hockey Team won gold at the Olympics today, our niece Colleen Sostorics (#5) was a part of it.
Even better, it was her second Olympic gold medal; she'd also been with the team at Salt Lake City in 2002.
I got home in time to watch the last 12 minutes of today's game, and I'm actually glad I didn't get home any sooner. I can't stand hockey, but I thought I could force myself to watch the gold medal game.
I'm just as glad that I didn't have to—I was full of tension throughout those last 12 minutes, convinced that something would go hideously awry.
It didn't, though, and as soon as the game was officially over I was riveted, watching for glimpses of Colleen as she celebrated with her teammates and as she received her medal and cried.
I cried too.
